Horrific news this morning in connection with a pair of bodies found Monday afternoon in a county forest preserve. The bodies were identified as Milton and Ruby McClendon, parents of CLTV host Garrard McClendon. According to the Tribune:

The couple's bodies were discovered about 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Wentworth Woods of the Cook County Forest Preserve off Campbell Road between Pulaski and Michigan City Roads.

An autopsy performed Tuesday determined that Milton McClendon died from a gunshot wound to the head and Ruby McClendon died from multiple gunshot wounds. Milton McClendon, who was identified through his heart pacemaker, was 78, and his wife was 76, records show.

Early this morning, police recovered the couple's car, found abandoned on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Police had issued an alert for the car - a green 1997 Cadillac El Dorado two-door with Indiana plates - and received a tip from a woman who spotted the car. The woman also reported seeing two men get out of the car, leading police to search the area for possible suspects. The investigation has been handed over to police in Hammond, Indiana, where the couple lived, after it became apparent their home was a crime scene.
