Things to Do Tonight That Don't Involve Model Ship-Building

2009_10_22_lauri.jpg Yeah, we know what you're planning to do tonight: Stay at home and listen to Philip Glass records while you work on that Majesty of the Seas modeling kit you just got in the mails. Maybe you should save that activity for when it gets really cold, eh? If you agree that you should postpone gluing your fingers together to get out and explore life some, then consider the following activities:

The nonprofit film production and media literacy education company Split Pillow holds its third annual fundraiser tonight at founder Jason Stephens' house. It's haunted! A silent auction, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres (they're haunted!) and more await you. The party celebrates the upcoming releases of Split's feature films, Eye of the Sandman and Life as Lincoln. 6-8 p.m. $60; get your tickets here. 400 E. Randolph #40A.

If you don't have $60 to spare, because your Elvis memorabilia business is all "recessioned" or whatever, then go to Feather Loft for six floors of artist activity. "There will be some real cool shit on display," one resident artist informs us. 7-10 p.m. 355 N. Laflin.

ThreeWalls hosts a public culture lecture called "Storytelling as an Everyday Art." With Megan Stielstra. It's free. 7 p.m. 119 N. peoria #2D.
