Bulls Bounce Spurs In Opener
With the home crowd behind them, the Bulls looked sharp in opening their 2009-2010 season with a 92-85 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Luol Deng, plagued by injury last season, led the team with 17 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. In all, six Bulls scored in double figures, including Derrick Rose who played well in 33 minutes on the floor in spite of an ankle injury, scoring 13 points, dishing seven assists, and grabbing seven rebounds. But there's no rest for the 1-0 Bulls as they're in Boston tonight to take on another heavyweight, the Celtics. Tip-off is 7 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN and WGN.

Predators Ice 'Hawks
The third time wasn't the charm for the Blackhawks as the Nashville Predators blanked the 'Hawks 2-0 last night. The 'Hawks had already beaten the Predators in both previous meetings in the young season, but Nasvhille shut down the 'Hawks, allowing only 22 shots and none of them slipping past Predator goalie Pekka Rinne. After a scoreless first period, the Predators got a power play goal late in the second and held the slim 1-0 lead until an empty net goal in the waning seconds put the game on ice. Cristobal Huet wasn't too shabby in net for the 'Hawks, allowing the lone goal and making 26 saves. Said Coach Quenneville, "You knew they were going to be hungry and desperate because the first two outcomes weren't in their favor. The difference was we didn't cash in on our opportunities." The 'Hawks hope to bounce back tonight as they return to the United Center to take on Montreal (7:30 p.m., CSN).
