Davis Defends Decision

U.S. Rep. Danny Davis defended his decision to step out of the Cook County Board President's race and instead focus on winning reelection to his Congressional seat. According to WBEZ, Davis felt like "I could have won" except for some impediments.
Those impediments, Davis says, include three other candidates from the same community and political base...DAVIS: ...which obviously would provide more of an opportunity for a more conservative candidate to be victorious.
While making the announcement, Davis insisted his comments were about ideology and not about race.
DAVIS: Well, I don't think it's necessarily a matter of black candidates.
Really? Because that still feels like a not-so-subtle way of saying, "I was worried about splitting the black vote" with Stroger, Ald. Preckwinkle, and Dorothy Brown to us.
Meanwhile, Rev. Marshall Hatch of New Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church - and part of Davis' district - isn't happy about Davis decision to run for reelection. Of course, Rev. Hatch also happens to be one of the candidates in that race who is going up against the incumbent Davis in this February's primary.
