Step 1: Go to Stephen Elliott's talk at 826 Chicago (a.k.a. the writing center inside The Boring Store in Wicker Park).

O.K., maybe it's more complicated than that, but Sunday's event is a good start. Elliott will refer to his experience writing his latest book, "The Adderall Diaries," but the subject matter will be broader, addressing all things memoir-related, from how to turn your life into a readable story to how to manage the consequences of doing so (e.g. getting ostracized by friends and family). The class is for writers of all skill levels, so let your anxieties flutter away like so many pages of your previously unsuccessful book attempts.

The price of admission is the cost of "The Adderall Diaries," and you'll also get a copy of the book, which, as we hinted at back in October, is something you should do, anyway.
