Predators Thrash 'Hawks
The Blackhawks had their home-winning streak snapped when they fell last night 4-1 to the Predators. The 'Hawks took a quick lead last night when Jonathan Toews scored a goal half-way through the first period but it was all Preds after that. The Preds scored four straight goals to put the game on ice, literally and figuratively. It wasn't for lack of shots, though, as the 'Hawks had 35 shots in all while allowing only 23. Huet had 19 saves overall for the game. The 'Hawks are on the road tonight in Pittsburgh (6:30 p.m., WGN).
Cavs Skirt Bulls
The Bulls struggles continued as they dropped their seventh game in their last eight and their sixth straight road loss as LeBron and the Cavs downed the Bulls 101-87. The Bulls did their best to keep and even had the game tied midway through the third, but the Cavs put together a 30-9 run to bust the game wide-open. Taj Gibson scored 14 and pulled down 13 rebounds while Derrick Rose scored 13. The Bulls are back home tonight to take on the Raptors (7 p.m., CSN).
College Football
While we won't know most of the bowl lineups until after the BCS is sorted out thanks to today's games, we do know now that Notre Dame won't be playing. In the wake of the firing of head coach Charlie Weis, the Irish have selected not to go to a bowl game due to the "unique circumstances" that involve not having a head coach.
