David Headley, one of two Chicago-area men arrested by the FBI in October on alleged terror charges, has now been charged for helping plan the deadly terror attacks in Mumbai last year that killed 170 people. According to the Tribune, "The charges against Headley, 49, now include the six conspiracy counts, as well as proving material support to foreign terrorist plots, providing support to Lashkar and six counts of aiding and abetting the murder of U.S. citizens in India." Headley is alleged to have made several reconnaissance trips to Mumbia from 2006 through 2008 to help scout out sites for the attacks. He's also accused of having trained with the organization Lashkar-e-Taiba which has been blamed for the attacks.
Headley was arrested in October along with Tahawwur Hussain Rana for allegedly plotting terror attacks in Denmark in response to the publication of the controversial Muhammad cartoon; Rana was not charged in the Mumbai case. U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald said in a statement, "This investigation remains active and ongoing. The team of prosecutors and agents will continue to seek charges against the other persons responsible for these attacks."
