A teacher at an elite Chicago Public School was suspended after officials learned he had been arrested in an undercover prostitution sting, the Sun-Times reports.

Scott Carlson, a 41-year-old computer teacher at Lane Technical High School, rented a hotel room Tuesday evening near Midway Airport. This room would later become the site of prostitution sting, according to the report.

An undercover officer from the sheriff's department answered "an 'escort' ad on a social networking site" and arranged to meet Jessica Shea, 21, at the hotel, the report said. Once in the room, Shea offered to have sex with the officer for money at which point she was arrested for prostitution. A receipt from the hotel determined Carlson had rented and paid for the room himself; he was arrested in the hotel parking lot waiting for Shea, according to police.

Although school officials aren't sure if Carlson taught any classes on Wednesday after his arrest, he was "ordered to leave" campus that day. A teacher at Lane Tech since August 2002, Carlson was relieved of all teaching duties, with pay, "pending investigation," the report said.
