The FBI and local area police are investigating two separate Friday night bank robberies, one in west suburban Oak Brook and the other in north suburban Skokie.

At about 5 p.m. on Friday, a man entered the MB Financial Bank branch at 1400 16th St. in Oak Brook and presented a teller with a note that said he had both a bomb and a gun. He left the bank with an unidentified amount of cash and left behind a package, according to a statement from the Chicago FBI. The branch was closed temporarily while a bomb squad cleared the area. No explosive device was found. Similarly, at 5:40 p.m. in Skokie, a man entered the Chase Bank branch at 5200 W. Dempster St. and handed the teller a note announcing a robbery. According to the Chicago FBI statement, he claimed to have a handgun and threatened to harm the teller if his demands were not met. He too left the band with an undisclosed amount of money.

No injuries were reported in either robbery. [Chicago Sun-Times]
