Bulls Clip Hawks in OT
Break up the Bulls! Led by Derrick Rose, the Bulls overcame a 40 point night by Atlanta star Joe Johnson and came away winners 101-98 in overtime. The Hawks led for much of the first half but the Bulls fought back in the second, including a 10-1 run early in the fourth and another late push to even up the game at 92-92 at the end of regulation. Atlanta took an early lead in overtime but the Bulls quickly caught up and took a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Rose had 32 points to lead the Bulls while Luol Deng scored 21 and pulled down 11 rebounds. The Bulls try to roll a turkey when the Kings come calling on Monday (7 p.m., CSN).
College Basketball
- Northwestern is on a roll, having won eight straight games after beating Stanford 70-62. John Shurna led the Wildcats with 22 and Michael Thompson added 15.
- Illinois' four-game winning streak was snapped on the road by Georgia yesterday 72-69 thanks to some clutch free throw shooting by the Bulldogs. Demetri McCamey led the Illini with 21 points in the losing effort.
- Notre Dame improved to 10-2 on the year as all five Irish starters scored in double-figures - led by Luke Harangody's 23 - to upend UCLA 84-73.
- Will Walker scored 23 points and Devin Hill and Mike Stovall added 19 points each as the DePaul Blue Demons had no problems dispatch Texas State 86-69.
- UIC cruised past NIU 69-49. Robo Kreps led the Flames with 25 while Michael Fakuade was the only Huskie to score in double-digits with 11 points.
