Chicago, The Mystery Painting Series

By Marcus Gilmer in Miscellaneous on Dec 21, 2009 5:00PM

Late last week, Chicagoist reader/Flickr pool contributor sparkyluck shared the above photos in our pool of a series of paintings she recently purchased. She shares her experience in purchasing the photos here but is still unsure of the painter who created them.

I always thought the artist's signature was "O. Ropez" until yesterday when I decided to find out a little bit more about the artist. I Googled "O Ropez" and luckily came across "Eduardo Oropeza". Now looking at the artist signature I see the "A"; I had always thought it was a little bit of flair that he or she added to their signature.

If these paintings are indeed the works of Eduardo Oropeza, then they are by the same Eduardo Oropeza who was an artist that worked in many mediums - paintings, bronze sculptures and statues, silk screening, etc. I have not yet found definitive proof that the paintings I have are by the same artist, but I will continue to search.
