Knife Of Simpson has been kicking around the grimier corners of Chicago for close to a decade now. They're the kind of band that plays raw rock and roll dedicated to the true values of the red, white and blue. They drink dollar beers from sweaty mugs and their shots are all whiskey, American. they're the blue clooar intelligentsia that are mad as hell and aren't gonna take it anymore. They are freaks. They are outsiders. They are the greatest enemy of "the man" and all He stands for.

Their debut full length, Orenthalogy, has been years in the making, so some might write off their angrier political polemics as being rooted in a distaste for our previous administration, but we realize this anger actually stems from a hatred of the current overarching system. In the Knife Of Simpson world everyone is corrupt, rock stars routinely die after snorting mound of cocaine off a hooker's nipples, and anyone who proclaims themselves an agent of change better bring about some fucking change or they're leveling two barrels of pure rawk fury down their gullet.

All of this is rooted in a distinctively '70s brand of two guitar rock and roll. The beats are big, the solos are long, but everything is delivered with a pounding gusto that is hard, nay, impossible to resist. Their live shows are filled with both furious anger and a grand sense of humor. When things are this bad, they realize, sometimes the only thing you can do is laugh. And party. And have a good fucking time. Johnny "Savage" Cochryde, Norman Conquest, Rusty Renegade, and The Hessian, are bringing their shirtless, sweaty party to Quencher's tomorrow to celebrate their CD's new release. We suggest you are in attendance.

Knife of Simpson plays tomorrow, January 16, at Quenchers, 2401 N Western, 9 p.m., FREE, 21+
