Blackhawks Double Up Oilers
The Blackhawks wasted no time last night in jumping on top of the last-place Oilers en route to a 4-2 victory. Jonathan Toews scored the game's first goal less than a minute in to give the 'Hawks an early 1-0 edge. After going the rest of the first scoreless, Chicago then exploded for three goals in an eight minute span in the second to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Troy Brouwer and Dustin Byfuglien both netted goals and Marian Hossa added a power-play goal. Edmonton added a goal late in the second and showed signs of life with a goal early in the third, but the 'Hawks locked down and held on for the two-goal win. Huet started in goal and stopped 22 of 24 shots he faced. Overall, the 'Hawks out-shot the Oilers 37-24. Next up? A huge tilt with the San Jose Sharks on Thursday (9:30 p.m., CSN). The 'Hawks trail the Sharks by just two points in the Western Conference standings.
College Basketball
