Weekend Dance Party: Hercules & Love Affair and Kid Color Hit Abbey Pub

2010_1_29_hercules.jpg The two shows we would have suggested be a part of your plans this weekend were Cold War Kids at The Vic and MOSDOOM at Congress, but one is sold-out and the other has been rescheduled. However, when things don't quite shake out the way we want them to, we know Chicago can always deliver an excellent Plan B. On Saturday, Plan B is Abbey Pub, where Hercules & Love Affair and Kid Color will spin DJ sets for your dancing pleasure.

We know that some may prefer an actual live performance from Hercules, but as many heard from their DJ set at last year's Lollapalooza, the group has an eclectic taste that results in some funky blending of the musical spectrum. This is not the typical hipster dance party--while hipsters and scenesters promise to be abound, the tunes will assuredly be refreshing and fun, void of club-scene pretentiousness. Chicago's rising DJ star Kid Color will give his support, as will Gemini Club, Clique Talk and Vapor Eyes. The show starts at 8pm and tickets are $15.
