Amanda J. Eneman, 29, issued a statement claiming Cohen was unfit for office through Gloria Allred, a well-known Californian attorney. After observing Cohen during the course of their relationship, Eneman did not feel he should "hold any public office, including that of lieutenant governor,” Allred told the Tribune.
Eneman, a convicted prostitute, has seen her share of attention after it was revealed Cohen had been arrested in October 2005 for allegedly holding a knife to her throat. The charges were dropped when Eneman didn't appear in court. The two lived together for around a year four to five years ago, the report said.
Her statement comes right after Cohen's former wife, Debra York-Cohen, appeared in interviews with the embattled nominee on Thursday. York-Cohen stood by claims made in divorce files that Cohen "abused her, took illegal steroids and cheated on her."
Cohen, who shares the ticket with Gov. Pat Quinn, called on his ex-wife and former girlfriend to comment on his character to help Illinois voters decide whether or not he should stay in the running.
