The U.S. Supreme Court ruling wasn't the last we'll hear on the Asian Carp situation in the Great Lakes. Today the invasion issue will be taken up by the House Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment. The panel will hold a hearing in which the federal government will present its plan to prevent the spread of the fish which will consist of roughly two dozen different measures and $78.5 million. While it doesn't look like the State of Michigan will get its wish of closing locks in our area waterways, the federal government will consider closing them more often and poisoning water to kill the fish when they are open.
