I had such a great time participating in Hideout's Soup and Bread series last year that when Martha Bayne was putting together this year's schedule I immediately signed on for a return engagement. This time around, however, I'm bringing reinforcements.

We're making it a group thang.

Carrie Becker and Megan Tempest will be joining me Wednesday from 5:30-8 p.m. doling out homemade soup. As always, the soup is free, but Bayne and Hideout will be taking donations to be given to local food pantries. We'll be raising money for Lakeview Pantry, which provides 2,100 needy individuals a month with food, clothing, and case management.

Last year at this time the weather sucked just as hard, but the turnout was still pretty good. We want to help get the word out and pack the place with readers, staff, and lovers of soup. Think of this as something to tide us all over while we plan the next reader meetup.
