Former Chicagoista and local comedienne Margaret Hicks is offering heated tours of the Chicago Pedway this winter. Says Hicks, "These aren't your grandmother's tours, it's more like the Fight Club of tours. We learn things but we laugh a lot too. I'm a performer at heart. Wait till you see my Burnham impression." Hicks says these are great tours for Chicagoans who want to learn more about the city. "You know, you come on your lunch hour, learn about the crazy Pedway system but also learn about cool buildings and Chicago history; all without ever going outside."

The tours, which began in January, have given Hicks the chance to connect with Chicagoans that are curious about a part of their city that they don't normally experience. "People come for the Monday tour, and then they come back for the Wednesday and the Friday tour. I think it's a fun diversion during the work day that people want to come back and see the rest of the pedway, or have another look," says Hicks. Tours start at noon, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and go for about 45 minutes, cost $5 and conclude in a food court, so you can grab a quick bite. Monday and Wednesday start in front of the Puma store at Block 37, and Friday tours start at Stetson and Lake, at the Aon Center. For more details, check out her website, Chicago Elevated.
