Quinn To Duckworth: I Choo-Choo-Choose You.

02_19_10choochoocard.jpg Valentines Day has come and gone, but the political propositioning keeps on coming in the wake of the Scott Lee Cohen balls-up and the vacancy for a Democratic candidate for the completely unnecessary Lieutenant Governor seat.

Clout Street is reporting that Governor Pat Quinn has reached out to Tammy Duckworth to join him on the campaign trail as his pick for the Lt. candidate's spot. Duckworth has been spending her recent months in DC working in the Veterans Administration, she's a noted Iraq war veteran, and narrowly lost in her attempt to take Peter Roskam's congressional seat. She also probably has never abused steroids, been charged with domestic battery, been late with child support payment or run pawn shops. Not that we're holding that against her.

State Senator Rickey Hendon and State Rep. Art Turner lost out to Cohen in the primary and have expressed continued interest in the position, but Quinn didn't elaborate when he said he had others in mind if Duckworth passes on the invitation. All we have to say is that if and/or when Duckworth turns him down, we sincerely hope there's a camera on hand so we can pinpoint the exact moment his heart rips in half.
