Mayor Daley may find himself on the witness stand in the defense of real estate developer Calvin Boender -- Daley, along with 10 aldermen, has been subpoenaed by Boender's attorney.

Boender has been accused of bribing former alderman Issac "Ike" Carothers with over $40,000 in home improvements to gain Carothers help in moving along a zoning change that was crucial to Boender's Galewood Yards project on the West Side. Carothers pleaded guilty to accepting the bribe earlier this month, and will be serving a 28 month prison sentence. In taking the plea, Carothers became a member of the ever-expanding Convicted City Council Club, whose roster has grown to 31 since the 1970s.

Daley indicated he will fully cooperate with the court. In a statement released by City Hall's Corporation Counsel Mara Georges and obtained by the Sun-Times, Georges said, "If the court finds that the Mayor's testimony is relevant and required, he will testify."
