The Chicagoist Theatre Department has been a pretty lonely place lately. As we wrap up another day of wistfully staring at the empty desk in our barren office, we are comforted by our certainty that hundreds, nay, thousands of you have undoubtedly applied to fill the void. But while El Jefe pours over your brilliant oeuvre(s), we will continue our Sisyphean task of covering as much as we can, however we can. Without further ado, the second installment of our newest series: shows we want to see, but probably won’t.

Private Lives - Chicago Shakespeare Theater - closing Sunday
The Tribune's Chris Jones calls the acting in this Noel Coward classic "pitch perfect." The real intrigue for us is the unconventional staging - in the round, on a slowly-rotating turntable. Brilliant or nauseating? You decide.

JedIraq - New Suit Theatre - closing March 14
In the debut production from New Suit Theatre, disillusioned college grad Keandra travels to Iraq to experience a war-torn country first-hand. Her letters to college journalist Dustin, safely home in America, become the subject of his articles. Justin Hayford at The Reader declares the performances "whip-smart" - not bad for the company's first go.
