Lilith Fair Is Coming To Chicago

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 16, 2010 7:45PM

2010_03_lilith_logo.jpg The reincarnated Lilith Fair tour will arrive in Chicago on Saturday July 17 and take up residence at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre for the day.

Way back then the brainchild of Sarah McLachlan was a festival arguably known for its attempts to focus attention on what were viewed as positive female role models. This incarnation has come under some criticism for including a pop princess like Kelly Clarkson and Ke$ha alongside stalwart performers like Loretta Lynn, and Suzanne Vega, but we personally find such a critique both elitist and slightly sexist. In fact the inclusion of acts like Cat Power, Erykah Badu, Gossip, La Roux, and Jesca hoop make this version of Lilith far more exciting, and inviting to all fans, than the soft rock sing-along Lilith Fair was perceived as by the end of its initial run.

Tickets to the Chicago stop go on-sale Saturday March 27 through the Lilith Fair website. The full list of artists performing on the tour is after the jump.
