By Karl Klockars in Miscellaneous on Mar 19, 2010 7:00PM
On a beautiful Friday afternoon, where the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and we've got a few more hours before it all goes pear-shaped for the weekend, what kind of uplifting, positively thrilling and joy inducing podcastery do we have for you this week? A scintillating discussion about capital punishment! Executions! The Death Penalty! We can hear the shrieks of glee already.
In all seriousness, the Illinois Coalition Against the Death Penalty is stepping up their game as we get ever closer to electing a governor, and GOP candidate Bill Brady has expressed his interest in ending George Ryan's moratorium on executions, and would favor capital punishment in some situations, with certain safeguards.
Executive Director of the ICADP Jeremy Schroeder joined the podcast to discuss the rally the recently held in Springfield. In addition, we detail where the moratorium is currently at, some possible different tactics to use for opposing capital punishment, some metaphysical discussion of religious laws and the afterlife, and where the drive for a nationwide or statewide ban is currently situated.
