Call for Submissions: Culinary Classes Calendar

Fellow at-home cooks, we heard your call and we want to answer it - more recipes, more ways to help you in the kitchen. Chicagoist is taking submissions to build a monthly cooking, wine, beer and spirits class calendar. Please e-mail me to submit your class to our monthly calendar.

In the meantime, here are some upcoming classes around town:

Tuesday, April 13

Cheese 101 at Pastoral

Join resident cheese expert Alison Olewnik as she covers cheese basics. Learn about the different milk types, styles, and cheese regions of the world. You will develop a vocabulary to make every visit to the cheese shop a success, and all your cheese plates a show stopper.

Tuesday, April 13

Cheese and Chocolate at Sabor Saveur

Guests will watch and learn how to prepare Chef Yanitzin Sanchez's cheese fondue dish (Chihuahua and Roquefort cheeses with tequila, cilantro oil, chipotle sauce, and green and red peppers, plus plenty of bread for dipping), along with the restaurant’s wildly popular chocolate-braised salmon entree (served with an atole pepper sauce).

Details: 6-7:30 pm, $25 per person (includes chef demonstration, tasting, two cocktails and recipes cards)

Bin School, Wine 101 “Getting Friendly with Your Bottle”

Fun and irreverent, but still educational, this class encompasses the basics, such as how wine is made and how to "taste" wine rather than simply drink it. Common misconceptions will be demystified, and any and all questions will be answered.
