The Great American Mutt Show Comes to Berwyn

Checking out all the nifty purebred dogs entered in the International Kennel Club of Chicago show at McCormick Place was cute overload. But one thing we noticed was the lack of, well, regular dogs. Never fear, Chicagoland, the lack of a category for Best Stray has finally been addressed: the City of Berwyn is hosting the Great American Mutt Show next month!
According to the city's website, "the Chicagoland Great American Mutt Show features a wide variety of entertainment-based competitions, such as best kisser, most creative pet trick and waggiest tail to name a few, which are open to mixed breeds, rescue and all other dogs. Although dogs of all types are welcome in the show, only mixed breeds who win a contest can enter the Best in Show grand finale competition." We'll bring you coverage of the event next month, but in the meantime, you can friend all the local mutts on Facebook, and even enter your dog here.
The Chicagoist staff includes several pups - all pictured above are rescues - that may just wind up in the competition. That is, if we can ever settle the argument about which one is the best (alas, writers' egos even extend to pets).
