PHOTOS: OK Go At Metro

OK Go brought their show to Metro last weekend, and while the boys may now live in California the concert certainly felt like a celebratory homecoming. The band took the stage by storm and kicked out an energetic set that never seemed to flag over nearly 90 minutes. Their latest album continues to grow on us over repeated listens and while some accuse the band of resorting to gimmickry to promote their music we saw a band at the height of their powers.

Their new material, their break from a major label and their comfort at expanding the showmanship in their live show came together to drive the sold-out crowd into a frenzy. We admit at one point we wondered if the band was perhaps emulating the current stylings of The Flaming Lips too closely -- mic-mounted cameras, confetti cannons, producer Dave Fridmann helping shape each band's sound -- ultimately we decided they were at the most getting pointers from the masters and making them their own.

It took them awhile, but OK Go has truly found their own niche and the occupy it well. We can't wait to see where this band takes us in the future.
