Chick-Fil-A Breaks Ground

By Marcus Gilmer in Food on Apr 20, 2010 2:40PM

2010_04_20_chickfila.jpg Construction is underway at the three long-awaited Chicago-area Chick-Fil-A fast food restaurants. The Aurora location will open on August 19 while locations in Orland Park and Wheaton will follow in the fall. The company plans six Chicago-area locations overall, but no one has actually said if any will be, you know, within city limits. Dan Cathy, Chick-Fil-A president and COO said, "Our fans in Chicago ... have been loud and clear about their Chicago demands. They have started Web sites, Facebook and Twitter fan pages and posted YouTube videos as part of their campaigns pleading for us to open in Chicago." Great but when will we have one we can access via the CTA, Dan? Until then, Stolpman and I are sticking to Popeye's (don't tell Megan!). With the Aurora grand opening approaching, prepare yourself for the spectacle by checking out the terrific This American Life story done from the grand opening of a location in Florida.
