Farmers Markets are Almost Here

Green City 8.jpg On April mornings, occasionally we wake up to mild weather. The breeze is blowing through our windows, we've tossed off the blanket during the night. As we hazily grope towards wakefullness, we instinctively think "which farmers market should we go to today?" Then, we come to our senses and realize that it's still April. For those of you who are having cravings, have no fear - it's almost time!

Mark your calendars - City of Chicago farmers markets start in about 3 weeks, as does the Green City Market. Daley Plaza Farmers Market, our usual haunt, opens on May 13th. Our resolution for the year is to check out more neighborhood markets - you can find out more information about them on the city's website.

Lastly, one of our favorite winter treats is about to come to a close. The Green City indoor market, held at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, has its last session this upcoming Saturday. The indoor market is a great chance to get some very early spring produce, stock up on local meat and dairy, and reconnect with some of your favorite farmers. Hopefully, we'll see lots of you there!
