A kitten in a tree it's not, but last week Naperville firefighters still got a call that, while seemingly mundane, will be pretty memorable: rescuing a dog from a recliner. The incident happened last Thursday at the Sunrise of Naperville assisted living facility when the pooch, perhaps enjoying its nightly routine of "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune," got caught up in the owner's electrical recliner. Using a saw (no Jaws of Life?) because the recliner's electrical controls were on the fritz, the firemen were able to cut the dog free. The dog was reportedly fine and not in any pain, but a vet check-up was recommended just in case. Firefighter/Paramedic Scott Bolda said, "We've never had to rescue a dog like that before." Could puppies on recliners become the new kids on escalators? Here's hoping this isn't the start of a new, dangerous, thrill-seeking trend among dogs.
