New Alexi Ad Addresses Broadway Bank, Blames Kirk

The saying goes: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. That's what Alexi Giannoulias appears to be doing, using a new campaign ad to address the controversy and federal takeover of his family's bank to launch an attack on GOP opponent Mark Kirk in their race for the U.S. Senate. Being careful to mention that he left the bank "over four years ago," Giannoulias ties the bank's failure to the economic crisis and compares it to the closing of Mom-and-Pop shops all across the state. And who's to blame for all of this? According to Giannoulias, Mark Kirk.

Having already weathered Kirk's hit on the bank and trailing in the polls, the ad kicks off a new swing for a campaign that seems to be on the precipice of sink or swim.
