LCD Soundsystem Coming To Metro In May, Bringing All Their Friends

LCD Soundsytem playing Pitchfork this summer was good news, but hearing they're coming through town sooner than expected to cast their dance rock sweat all over the inside of Metro in May is great news! We're sure you've heard the tracks from their forthcoming album This Is Happening slipping and sliding all over the net already -- and if you haven't you should plug yourself and listen to the whole album stream here -- so there's no way you're not salivating as badly as we are to see this madness go down live. Opening the show are LCD Soundsystem lablemates Holy Ghost!, virtually guaranteeing the night will be absolute pandemonium.
But wait, there's more!
We've learned Berlin's Ellen Allien will be spinning downstairs at Smart Bar for the show's official afterparty. We've been listening to the minimal techno grooves off her next album Dust and find ourselves drawn in, entranced by music that is the furthest thing from trance music you could imagine. Allien's grooves are placed beside each other with care, gradually growing together into a tapestry that ensnares your limbs and twists them out across a voluminous expanse. The only slight misstep on Dust is Allien's attempt at a more straightforward pop song "Sun The Rain," but that moment is but a blip on an otherwise entrancing album.
