Capture A Moment This Sunday

By Rob Christopher in Arts & Entertainment on Apr 28, 2010 6:00PM

Lens, the photography blog of The New York Times, is aiming to create a "global mosaic" of photos all taken at the same moment, this Sunday, May 2. That moment will be 10 a.m. here in Chicago. They offer a list of suggested topics, with a very important caveat: each photographer can only submit a single image.

The idea behind the mosaic is fascinating enough, but the single-image restriction is what really intrigues us. To quote a recent journal post by David Byrne, "Complete creative freedom is as much a curse as a boon ... There’s a joy and relief in being limited, restrained."

We'd like to get in on the act too, so snap your pic this Sunday at 10 a.m., share it in the Chicagoist Flickr pool and tag it "May 2." Next week we'll include the best submissions in one of our Around Town galleries.
