Judge: No-Go On Blago's Obama Subpoena

By Marcus Gilmer in News on Apr 30, 2010 7:00PM

U.S. District Judge James Zagel, the man lucky enough to provide over the circus that is the Rod Blagojevich trial, has ruled that Team Blago will not be allowed to subpoena President Obama for his upcoming federal trial. Said Zagel: "The only material aspect is what the defendant believed." Still, as Team Blago member Sheldon Sorosky pointed out, the idea of subpoenaing Obama was not permanently dismissed: "The judge did say that he still might allow the president to testify later on should it become necessary." Of course, if you're the defense, you're still feeling okay because the Motion That Wasn't Redacted still got information defending Blagojevich disseminated to the public. As far as we know, Blago's trial is still scheduled to start on June 3.
