World's Fair Flashback

By Marcus Gilmer in Miscellaneous on May 3, 2010 6:40PM

Over the weekend, the Shanghai Expo opened up, a new edition of the World's Fair. And in honor of the opening, the Associated Press ran out some photos of World's Fairs past, including our own 1893 Columbian Exposition. Everyone knows that the fair was chronicled in Erik Larson's book The Devil In The White City, but it's still cool to see a few peeks into yesteryear. And if you're still looking for a bit of reading on the 1893 World's Fair, just for the heck of it, we suggest the Chicago Historical Society's page as well as this book. And these, of course, are just scratching the surface. And don't forget the 1933 "Century of Progress" World's Fair (like we originally did!).
