Saturday Mondays In The Park: Edible Audible Picnic

The guys over at Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs have given Mondays a new rep, transforming them from miserable to musical. As we’ve already mentioned, their Downtown Sound series features an impressive lineup of free music each Monday after work from May 24 through July. And just last week they announced the lineup for this summer’s Edible Audible Picnic, a series of 16 free hour-long concerts held each Monday (and a few Saturdays) at noon in the Pritzker Pavilion.

This year’s lunchtime series runs from June 7 through Sept 4, focusing heavily on indie and electro acts from Chicago and around the globe. It kicks off with Toronto-based electro-pop artist Solvent and continues through the summer with highlight acts such as I Am Robot and Proud, Dosh, and a DJ set by The Juan Mclean. Chicago acts on the schedule include Orchard Lounge, The Cool Kids and All City Affairs. It doesn’t take much to persuade us to flee the office for an hour in the park, but this impressive lineup has us dusting off our picnic baskets in anticipation. So bring your lunch, claim your spot in the grass, and we’ll see you there.
