Kid Color’s birthday is actually Tuesday, but Chicago’s much-adored DJ is celebrating tonight at Smart Bar. Hercules and Love Affair are coming all the way from Brooklyn to give Kid Color (his real name is Kyle Woods) a DJ set for his 24th. Their live performance has never disappointed us before, so we trust they’ll mix up an amazing disco party and get us busting moves like the cast of Saturday Night Fever. With Autobot, Young Josh of Flosstradamus and Only Children by their side, it’s guaranteed to be one wild, sweaty dance party.

Even if you think you don’t know Kid Color, chances are you’ve seen him spinning at various clubs, rocking last year’s Lollapalooza or just walking around Chicago being shamelessly hip. His name frequents our Weekend Dance Party series, because he seems to be on the roster of all the hottest parties, making a name for himself with his disco flavor and youthful vigor. Kid Color is not on the line-up for tonight’s show, but we’re hoping that as the night goes on and the drinks go down, he’ll find himself behind the turntables.

RSVP through UR Chicago for discounted admission ($5 before midnight), and maybe use that extra money to buy the birthday boy a drink.

Kid Color’s Birthday Bash is tonight, Friday May 28 at Smart Bar, 3730 N Clark, 10 p.m., $10 before midnight or $15 after, 21+
