Hold Hands With Coupleskate

The three-day weekend probably has you reeling with possibilities so allow us to try and narrow down your options for you and send you off to see Coupleskate at The Hideout tonight. The quartet pens the sirt of indie pop that would fit perfectly on any circa '97 college radio playlist, owing more than a little debt to the Teenbeat Records sound. The girls have been on hiatus for a while so we're happy to see they've taken the dropcloth from over the drums, dusted off the tubes in their amps, and started gargling with whiskey and honey to get those voices into shape.
Headlining tonight's show is Brent Puls, formerly known for Grammar but now solo, backed by a number of collaboraters. Expect the stage to resemble a revolving door of Chicago's musical talent and consider this a bill you shouldn't miss.
Brent Puls, Coupleskate and Machine Shop play tonight, May 28, at The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia, 10 p.m., $7, 21+
