In a move that makes us ask the question “what year is this,” Evanston’s Human Services Committee voted in favor of an ordinance to ban “baggy pants.” The committee moved forward with an initiative to change the definition of public nudity to “the showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic areas or buttocks, or female breasts with less than a full opaque covering of any portion thereof below the top of the nipple." According to WBBM 780, Alderman Lionel Jean-Baptiste proposed the ordinance in response to a trend that has existed for well more than a decade on concerns over “long-term health effects of saggy pants on wearers as they walk and try to keep their pants hitched up.” The whole thing is giving us flashbacks to last year's baggy jeans incident at Mother's.
