After the first round of competition for the *ahem* BP Crosstown Cup, the Cubs and Sox both had Monday off. The Cubs stayed home, preparing for a run of games against the AL West. They'll host Oakland and Los Angeles this week and then make a whirlwind trip to Seattle for a three-game set before flying back to visit The Cell (nice one, schedule-makers). Meanwhile, the Sox schedule is less convoluted: they're now on the road for series in Pittsburgh and Washington D.C. (where they'll face phenom Stephen Strasburg, likely Saturday afternoon) before heading home next week to host the Braves and then the Cubs. So what did blogs following the two teams do on the rare double day off? Cubs Fan Report, one of our favorite new Cubs-centric sites (the other being Beachwood's Agony & Ivy), mulled whether or not it's time to blow up the Cubs and looked at the five best fake twitter accounts related to the team. South Side Sox prepped for the Pittsburgh series but also has a great round-up of Sox minor league info for those looking towards the future, no matter what Keith Law might say.
Also worth nothing on the local sports blog front is the new SB Nation Chicago hub, one of several regional hubs that launched last week. The Chicago hub is being run by Al Yellon who is also behind one of our favorite Cubs blogs, Bleed Cubbie Blue (who has a great minor league wrap up for the North Siders). The aforementioned South Side Sox is also part of the new SB Nation Chicago. Let us know your favorite blogs for the Cubs, Sox, Blackhawks, Bulls, and every other local sports team under the sun in the comments.
