The Sun-Times is reporting that the Chicago School Board has given district officials the thumbs up to up the class size of CPS schools to 35 students per class. The move is aimed at helping fill an enormous budget gap but will also result in layoffs. The Chicago Teacher's Union strongly opposes the move. Earlier today, teachers protested outside of Board HQ, upset over proposed cuts and layoffs as well as the fact that the Board would allow CPS head Ron Huberman to keep the budget from public eyes.
