Another Pizza List to Debate

In what's shaping up to be a year of lists at Chicago magazine, restaurant critic Jeff Ruby has listed the magazine's 25 favorite pizzas and Great Lake's cremini mushroom and Dante cheese pizza takes top honors and further cementing Great Lake owner Nick Lessins as one of the true culinary visionaries in Chicago.

Ruby's list also references many of the pizza joints that we discussed in our great pizza joint debate from February: Santullo's, Piece, Pequod's, Art of Pizza, Coalfire, Spacca Napoli and Lou Malnati's.

Of the 25 Ruby listed, the surprise of the lot (for us) is Frasca's margherita pizza. We've personally had some very middling experiences at Frasca, including a breakfast pizza that wound up being a big mistake. We've already invited Ruby to join us for a pie at Phil's Pizza in Bridgeport. We're awaiting that reply.
