Sox Keep Winning
The White Sox stayed hot, winning for the seventh time in nine games with their easy 7-2 win over Pittsburgh. The Sox offense eschewed power in favor of solid, consistent hitting to put runners on base and then knock 'em in to score their runs. Carlos Quentin paced the team with two RBI. John Danks was solid on the mound, going eight strong innings for his sixth win of the year. Said Danks of the Sox current run: "This is the way we envisioned ourselves pitching out here. Who knows? Hopefully this is the roll that gets us back on track. But we're going to take it day to day and so far, so good."The Sox go for the sweep tonight behind Mark Buehrle (6:05 p.m., WGN).

Cubs Break Out Of Funk
The Cubs managed to put Tuesday's awful error-filled game behind them and pull off a win for only the second time in six games, defeating the Oakland A's 6-2. Oakland scored a run in the first but Ryan Dempster settled down after, going 6.2 innings and allowing two runs while striking out seven to earn his fifth win of the season. Derrek Lee smacked home run number 301 and Starlin Castro had two RBI as did Alfonso Soriano. The homer was particularly nice for Lee who was coming off of two key errors in one inning Tuesday night. Said Lou Piniella after the game, "The one saving grace about baseball is if you play a real poor game, you don't have to sit around all week and wait for another one -- they throw one at you the next day. It gives you a chance to redeem yourself and these guys really played well tonight."The series' rubber match is this afternoon (1:20 p.m., CSN).
