In their ten years together, the guys from Delorean have hopped from genre to genre, starting out as a punk-dance act and eventually evolving into the pop-house hybrid they are now, delicately balancing club music with euphoric melodies and blending in hints of Balearic beat, indie rock and Madchester house. The results of this mixture are the type of summer jams that can both spur a beach-side romance and incite a sweaty dance party. This makes sense since the Barcelona-based quartet spends its days on the warm, white sands of the Mediterranean beach and spends its nights soaking in the sounds of Spanish dance clubs.

Delorean is bringing its sunny, danceable rhythms to Chicago just in time for summer. They’ll be playing the Empty Bottle Friday, July 16, supported by Glasser and local psychedelic act Light Pollution. Delorean will also be playing at Pitchfork the next night, but honestly, we'd rather experience their performance in the intimate space of one of our favorite venues. The act has sold out their last four Chicago shows, so pre-order your tickets before this one sells out too.

Prepare for the show by checking out this new video for "Stay Close” from their latest album, Subiza.

Delorean Plays Friday, July 16 at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western, 10 p.m., $10, 21+
