After Chicago-based radio program Sound Opinions screens director Richard Linklater’s 1993 nostalgic classic Dazed and Confused in July at the Music Box Theatre, they’ll be tackling another beloved sleeper flick with a more modern setting. According to Sound Opinions producer Jason Saldanha’s Twitter feed, a special screening of the movie Once, the austere, naturalistic musical that famously won an Oscar for Best Song in 2007, at Lincoln Hall in August has been scheduled.

Formal details have yet to be announced, but the icing on this sweet musical cake is that The Swell Season, primarily comprised of former real-life couple Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglová, who starred in and wrote the music for the film, will be “special guests” for the evening. Considering the venue, a live performance seems quite likely. The Swell Season were guests on Sound Opinions before in January 2008, so study up on their work as best you can by listening to that podcast here.
