The stadium, which is located at the northeast corner of Illinois Route 173 and Green Bay Road, will kick off its opening on Friday with a game at 7 p.m. between the Fielders and the Gary Railcats.

"We've had an awful lot of rain, but we're still optimistic it's going to be ready," Rich Ehrenreich, managing partner and president of Lake County Fielders, said to the Chicago Sun-Times. The Fielders played their first 15 home games in Kenosha, Wis while waiting for their stadium to be completed. Actor Kevin Costner, an investor and co-owners of the Fielders, is not expected to be in attendance for Friday's game, but is supposed to make an appearance at the new stadium in late July, Ehrenreich said to the Sun-Times.
