Police Announce Big Heroin Bust

By Marcus Gilmer in News on Jul 5, 2010 7:15PM

2010_07_05_thewire.jpg Police announced today a major bust on the Northwest Side that involved $5 million in cash and $1.5 million of heroin in what one official called, "definitely the biggest bust of the year for heroin." According to the Tribune:

The arrest and the seizures occurred Friday. Members of the Chicago Police Narcotics section stopped a man who was leaving the home, which had been under surveillance, and then police searched the residence and garage, police said.

"It was just really good timing by the officers,'' said O'Grady.

The bust comes on the heels of a recent report emphasizing the city's heroin problem.
