Weekend Dance Party: One Man Party (Soulwax) Hits Lincoln Hall

By Jake Guidry in Arts & Entertainment on Jul 9, 2010 6:30PM

2010_07_08_onemanparty.jpg After a bit of a hiatus, Delorean Nites is returning to Lincoln Hall this Saturday. While the wait's been longer than expected for the second installment of this serial party, it's back in full force with a headlining DJ set from Steve Slingeneyer, a.k.a. One Man Party, known best as the drummer of Soulwax. Throw in additional sets from Midnight Conspiracy, True Villain and Broken Disco 1980, and we have ourselves this week's pick for Weekend Dance Party.

Steve Slingeneyer adopted the One Man Party moniker after LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy dubbed him that after seeing him go wild on the dance floor at parties and shows. But beyond the ability to get down, One Man Party also applies to Slingeneyer's mixing style. Parts electro, parts disco, parts punk, parts funk and parts everything in between, One Man Party is very much about variety and mixing in songs people never thought they'd dance to. It's about challenging both the crowd and himself by exploring all genres of music. Slingeneyer also has a repertoire of his own remixes and productions, much akin to the styles that Soulwax and Justice have become known for. Saturday night will surely be more than a one-man party.

One Man Party, Saturday, 11pm, Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 18+, $10-12 ($15 at door)
