Sox Show Gets Debut Date

In a move that's either perfectly timed or perfectly timed to jinx their big mid-season run, the White Sox are heading to the small screen this weekend in reality show form. Like "The Hills" with Ozzie and Kenny instead of L.C. and Heidi, "The Club" documents the White Sox' 2010 from January through the beginning of May in a six episodes, each an hour long. The series debuts this Sunday night at 8 p.m., but you'll need MLB Network to watch it. From Crain's:
David Gavant, the executive in charge of production for Major League Baseball Productions, brought up Hollywood in talking about the storylines."There's tension like you'd see in a good summer movie," Mr. Gavant said. "You'll be introduced to a cast of characters. You see some conflict where you wonder if it ever can be resolved. But at the end of the day, everyone pulls from the same rope to deliver a big Hollywood ending. It's playing out like a Hollywood film."
Mr. Gavant added, "This is a very honest and open team. We couldn't have picked a better team to follow. This is a team that wears its emotions on its sleeve."
Tension! Like the strange Twitter fight between Oney Guillen and Kenny Williams? Crazy manufactured drama aside, given the Sox' amazing turn-around, the series could actually be an intriguing look at a season that, at first, seemed to be going down in flames. That is, as long as some reality manages to trickle through the magic of post-production editing.
