Although the Chicago Crime Commission only released their new list of the 10 Most Wanted criminals earlier this week, they've already made their first big capture. Sherry Halligan--who was accused of murdering a man in her LaGrange home in 2003--was caught 10 miles away from LaGrange in Palos Hills on Friday, ending a six year nationwide manhunt. Halligan was turned in by someone that recognized her from the list.

"She surrendered peacefully, they took her to court, and she's currently sitting in the County Jail," said Arthur J. Bilek, Crime Commission vice president, to the Chicago Sun-Times. Halligan was involved in a domestic fight with Dennis Campbell, a Florida man who visited her home in 2003. During the fight, Halligan picked up a gun and shot Campbell five times, police said. She fled and threw her bloody clothes and the gun out of her car window, but later turned herself in and confessed. The following year, Halligan jumped bail, and her car was found abandoned at Midway Airport. Bilek told the Sun-Times that the commission is "very pleased" that Halligan was captured, "and we're considering publishing a second list."
