If you’ve ever seen either of these acts perform live, you know this show is going to be a loud and rowdy good time. Natalie and Jenna of Heart Shaped Hate let out their inner riot grrrls via spastic synth, furious drums and screeched, howled, generally abrasive vocals. And BUST!, hailing from the excessively pleasant town of Woodstock, makes trashy, thrashy punk that sounds more like it was conceived out of the dumpster in the alley behind CBGB. Last month they released a new LP, Suck Kuts, which should be available at the show Saturday night.
You can also pick up the new split at the record release show. These bands put their own sweat and tears among other bodily fluids into this release, pressing 500 CDs and personally screen-printing and hand-making all the packaging. It will feature three brand new songs by each band, and you can get it for a measly $3 - entrance to the show is $7 or $10 with the CD. Also playing are Vacation Bible School, Dr. Manhattan, Truman & His Trophy and Double Bird, basically a who’s who of little-known local punk bands.
BUST! and Heart Shaped Hate’s Split Record Release Show is Saturday, July 24 at Ronny's, 2101 N California, 8 p.m., $7 or $10 w/Split CD, 21+
